New York Winemaker Series: Wines of Dr. Konstantin Frank presented by Meaghan Frank »

Dr. Konstantin Frank emigrated from Ukraine and pioneered the planting of the noble European species of grapes (vitis Vinifera) in the late 1950s which ignited a quality revolution in the American wine industry. Today the winery is celebrating its 55th vintage and is in its fourth generation. Meaghan Frank will lead a discussion of her family’s history and a tasting of their most celebrated wines. Did you know Rkatsiteli is the oldest known grape, originally from Georgia (the country)? Or that Grüner Veltliner is the #1 white grape in Austria? Find out more facts like these and taste the wines to go along with them at the seminar.

Single Malt Spotlight: Aberlour Scotch Tasting with Ken Haller »

Taste some rare single malts presented by Scotch specialist Ken Haller of Penod-Ricard. Several topics will be discussed regarding Scotch and these will be poured: Aberlour 12: The only true double cask matured single malt on the market, this speyside malt spends the full 12 years of its maturation in both sherry oloroso and ex bourbon casks. Smooth, rich, and a little sweet. Aberlour 16: Tasting this side by side with the 12 year will be an amazing experience, as everything about the production and maturation on this scotch is nearly identical to the 12 year, minus the length of maturation. A'bunadh: Gaelic for 'the original' a'bunadh is a whiskey made the way whiskey was made centuries ago.

Sweet Wines Focus with Dan Gobush of Fulkerson Winery »

Sugar and spice and everything nice! How do we produce 5 different styles of Rieslings from 0% residual sugar to our iced dessert Riesling? Fulkerson Winery was established 28 years ago by Sayre and Nancy Fulkerson on the west side of Seneca Lake. Fulkerson's have been farming the land since 1805 when Caleb Fulkerson planted his willow branch on Seneca Lake to claim his land. On a property of over 225 acres they dedicate 110 acres to grapes growing 35 different varieties. Sayre Fulkerson graduated from Cornell University in 1975 with a degree in pomology (the study of fruit production). Grapes were only a small portion of the farm until the 1970's when Sayre and his father Roger increased their grape planting. Sayre and Nancy sold their first 1000 cases of wine in 1989 and haven't looked back. Producing around 25 different award winning wines each year Fulkerson creates wines for every palate. Come and gain a new perspective about how delicious and complex sweet wines can be as Winemaker Dan Gobush of Fulkerson Winery talks about the making of "sweet" wines from vine to wine.

Champagne Series: Bollinger Tasting with Curtis Eaton »

Founded in 1829, Bollinger is one of the rare Grande Marques that’s still family owned. This famous house is now under the control of sixth generation Etienne Bizot, great-nephew of Lily Bollinger, and is well-known for its rich, elegant and polished style of Champagne. Their outstanding wines are the result of rigorous attention to detail, for Bollinger accepts nothing less than excellent. Each and every detail represents a quest for a certain form of perfection. Pinot Noir, a demanding grape variety that forms the backbone of Bollinger’s rich style, makes up around 60% of the plantings. . Bollinger is also known for its long-time on-screen relationship with British secret agent James Bond. They have been featured as Bond’s Champagne of choice in almost every Bond movie going back to 1973. Curtis Eaton of Vintus will leading this Champagne tasting.
