Spanish Series: Rioja versus Ribera Del Duero »

Rioja and Ribera Del Duero are two of the greatest Spanish wine appellations and both use Tempranillo though the final products are noticeably different. Factors like climate, oak regimens and winemaking philosophies yield very different results and we will discuss those differences and why they happen even though the same variety is used in both regions. We will be tasting and discussing the similarities and differences between some complex, red fruited and savory Rioja's versus more robust and dark fruited Ribera's. Wine Associate Mario Peña will be choosing the wines as well as leading the class. (Class Level: Intermediate)
