Sweet Wines Focus with Dan Gobush of Fulkerson Winery

Sugar and spice and everything nice! How do we produce 5 different styles of Rieslings from 0% residual sugar to our iced dessert Riesling? Fulkerson Winery was established 28 years ago by Sayre and Nancy Fulkerson on the west side of Seneca Lake. Fulkerson's have been farming the land since 1805 when Caleb Fulkerson planted his willow branch on Seneca Lake to claim his land. On a property of over 225 acres they dedicate 110 acres to grapes growing 35 different varieties. Sayre Fulkerson graduated from Cornell University in 1975 with a degree in pomology (the study of fruit production). Grapes were only a small portion of the farm until the 1970's when Sayre and his father Roger increased their grape planting. Sayre and Nancy sold their first 1000 cases of wine in 1989 and haven't looked back. Producing around 25 different award winning wines each year Fulkerson creates wines for every palate. Come and gain a new perspective about how delicious and complex sweet wines can be as Winemaker Dan Gobush of Fulkerson Winery talks about the making of "sweet" wines from vine to wine.
