Critical Acclaim
I pick up baked yellow fruits (banana, pear, quince) and round, lightly toasted scents of malt in the aroma. Palate entry offers clean, crisp tastes of dry breakfast cereal and lightly toasted barley malt; by midpalate, the dry to off-dry flavor profile includes oak-induced vanilla, light toffee, and nougat. Ends on a woody note.
Fresh and floral, with lively tropical fruit, honey, and vanilla. Gentle on the palate, with a slight syrupy texture to its malty foundation. Youthful, orange marmalade finish with a hint of spice. A pleasant, easy-going whisky.
The color is old gold/Sauternes-like, luminescent and flawlessly pure beneath the examination lamp. In the first nosing passes, I pick up lovely aromatic strands of baked yellow fruits (banana, pear, quince) and round, lightly toasted scents of malt; vibrant notes of new saddle leather get stimulated by further aeration and a few rounds of swirling and the yellow fruit follows suit, as well, making for a fresh, grainy bouquet experience. The palate entry offers wonderfully clean, crisp tastes of dry breakfast cereal in the form of lightly toasted barley malt; by the midpalate stage, the dry to off-dry flavor profile expands to include oak-induced vanilla, light toffee, and nougat. Ends well on a woody note. As is the established Aberfeldy character, this vigorous yet polite malt is approachable and best served as a before-dinner appetite stimulant.
