This crisp Vinho Verde blend shows aromas of limes, oyster shells and a touch of peaches. The palate is balanced and medium- to full- bodied with a lovely equilibrium between voluptuous fruit and fresh acidity. A blend of 20% alvarinho, 40% loureiro and 40% avesso. Drink now.

Anselmo Mendes has a big focus on Alvarinho, from 2005 also Loureiro and in 2009 Avesso (not very aromatic but mineral), and this 2024 Muros Antigos Escolha is 40% Loureiro, 40% Avesso and 20% Alvarinho, a blend they like because the grapes complement each other. The juice from the pressing of the destemmed grapes fermented in stainless steel with neutral yeasts and was kept with fine lees in stainless steel. It's pale and young and has a soft, tender palate with nice balance and good ripeness and notes of white flowers and fruit. It has 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.14 and six grams of acidity, coming through as balanced and complex beyond the price point. 150,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2025.

A blend of three of the main white varieties of Vinho Verde, Alvarinho, Loureiro and Avesso, the wine has a young, fruity character. It is light and lively, the acidity at the end gives a fine lift. Drink now.
