A rich, medium- to full-bodied red, with a fragrant thread of chopped marjoram, orange peel and spice box winding through concentrated flavors of cherry reduction, damson plum preserves, red licorice and tarry mineral. Firm and chewy, though balanced overall, with a tightly coiled, well-spiced finish. Best after 2025. 750 cases made, 100 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)

Ripe dark berries, chocolate, sweet spices, charred bark, walnuts and hints of tar on the nose. Full and intense with depth and persistence to the fruit and firm, slightly chewy tannins. Lingering and earthy finish. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)

This darkly hued wine opens with rich aromas of macerated blackberries, preserves, pepper and clove with a hint of violets. The powerful palate is layered with black plums, dried herbs, baking spices and forest floor, all framed by classic firm Sagrantino tannins and finishing with balanced acidity. Drink 2025–2040.
