Bärenjäger Bärenjäger Honey & Bourbon NV 750ml

Last reviewed in 2003/ Three Stars. Amber/topaz color; unblemished purity. The opening aroma is anything but bashful as potent notes of dark honey and vanilla-laced bourbon rise from the sampling glass in the sustained waves; extra air time sees the aroma turn slightly burnt and toasty, which gives it another level of perfume. Entry is sweet, woody, resiny, more honeyed than whiskey-like; midpalate goes all out with the honey element, but intriguingly the profile isn't what I'd describe as sweet as much as it is elemental, woodsy, rustic, and frankly, tasty as a shot at the bar.
