Gianfranco Bovio Bovio Barolo Parussi 2019 750ml

With fruit from Castiglione Falletto, the Bovio 2019 Barolo Parussi has a sharpness and a bright linearity that is specific to this village (home to some of the most age-worthy Nebbiolo-based wines). That sharpness is made with tart fruit, wild cherry, crushed mineral and iron ore. The wine offers pretty complexity and length, and it remains feather light on the palate.

Attractive aromas of ripe red berries with dried spicy herbs, dried lavender, cedar and nutmeg. Medium- to full-bodied, firm and slightly chewy with layers of fine tannins and a ripe berry-fruit backbone. Compact and dense with a lingering finish. Try after 2025. (James Suckling)
