Critical Acclaim
Tasted as a preview, the 2025 Vistamare pours a bright straw yellow hue and has an expressive aromatic profile, with notes of white peach, quince, fresh tarragon, and white grapefruit, along with a saline edge. Medium-bodied, it has appealing freshness and good energy, and I expect it to flesh out further with time, gaining more texture and polish. As always, it’s a blend that includes Vermentino, Viognier, and Fiano, though the Viognier seems to shine more vividly within the fabric of this vintage.
The 2023 Vistamare is a bright silver straw color and has a more Chablis-like aromatic profile at this early stage, with notes of wet stone, fresh citrus blossoms, fresh saltiness, and candied lime. The palate has a lovely core of ripe fruit and brings its more expressive fruity profile forward, as well as its peachiness. It has beautiful complexity and purity and doesn’t feel lean and leesy as so many whites in the region do. Drink over the coming 6-8 years.
Tasted as a barrel sample, the 2023 Vistamare is lifted and packed with aromas of citrus zest along with a floral bouquet of concentrated key lime, starfruit, sea spray, and loads of floral citrus blossom. Medium to full-bodied, with a bit of white pepper spice, it has a fresher, more linear drive at this stage that should round and flesh out over time.
