The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is remarkably pretty, wafting up with a blend of violets and lavender before giving way to steeped plum lifted by mint. This is racy and sleek, with cooling acidity and mineral tones that excite the palate. Juicy acidity enlivens tart wild berry fruits. The 2019 finds its center through the finish, as fine tannins emerge and a crunchy sensation lingers. Licorice and bitter blackberry notes taper off slowly. In a word, fantastic. The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino unfolds a darkly alluring bouquet of crushed raspberries, dried violets and nuances of ginger and sage. It is mineral-intense with an attractive stony character. A silken wave of ripe red and black berry fruits slowly saturates, and a licorice tinge emerges. Hulking tannins frame the finish without slowing its momentum as a twang of citrus adds lively form. This dark beast will require patience but will also reward it.

Ripe aromas and flavors of plum, black cherry and black currant are shaded with iron, earth and eucalyptus notes in this savory red. There are assertive tannins that leave a solid grip on the finish, where the lasting impression is ripe fruit. Best from 2029 through 2045.—

Pouring a youthful ruby red hue, the 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino opens with ripe notes of cherry liqueur, pressed roses, mossy earth, and sweet Mediterranean herbs. As it sits in the glass, a touch of saddle leather and more savory depth begins to emerge. Medium to full-bodied, it has ripe, well-defined tannins and a bright spine of acidity, with a lightly sanguine, iron-tinged finish. Drink this vibrant, classic effort over the coming decade or more. The Caprili 2019 Brunello di Montalcino reveals a very pretty bouquet with a level of ripe fruit and pure cherry essence that does not come easily to a wine aged five years following the harvest. The primary fruit remains intact in this vintage. This village bottling shows velvety richness and concentration that stems directly from that exceptional fruit quality. There is rich texturing and fine chalky tannins to close. Some 55,000 bottles were made.

It's silken and round, with a polished core of ripe blackberries offset by a tinge of sour citrus toward the close. Exotic and spicy from the first tilt of the glass, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino wafts up with a bouquet of sweet herbal tones, woodland berries and wet stones. It’s round and supple in feel, as ripe strawberry and red plum are complemented by hints of autumnal spice. This finishes only lightly structured, almost transparent in feel, pinching at the cheeks with silty tannins, as nuances of clove and dried black cherries slowly fade. Produced in the warmer southwestern sector of Montalcino, Caprili’s Brunello typically emphasizes structure and breadth. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by 30 months of aging in oak and an additional six months in cement to promote integration. Production is 48,000 bottles.
