Critical Acclaim

SP 94 Wine Spectator 2018 vintage February 28, 2023

Complex and harmonious, this polished red is saturated with black cherry, plum, leather, tobacco, incense and iron aromas and flavors, revealing fruit, savory and mineral elements on the aftertaste. Beautifully balanced, with enough tannins to age another decade or longer. Sangiovese and Canaiolo. Drink now through 2033. 12,500 cases made, 6,500 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)

RP 91 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2018 vintage Dec 7, 2023

The Carpineto 2018 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva is dark and thick with lots of black and purple fruit packed tight within. Despite the opulance of the mouthfeel, the wine never feels heavy. Indeed, that fresh acidity adds pretty lift to the mouthfeel. The blend is 80% Sangiovese and 20% Canaiolo delivered throughout this 150,000-bottle release. (Monica Larner)

SP 91 Wine Spectator 2019 vintage October 2023

A fluid red, with cherry and plum flavors accented by tomato leaf and juniper. Reveals earth and iron notes as this firms up on the lingering finish. Open and stays fruity through the end. Sangiovese and Canaiolo.

JS 88 James Suckling 2018 vintage Tuesday, September 6, 2022

A soft and rich red with cherry and barley character as well as toasted oak. Full-bodied with round tannins. Slightly stewed fruit. Drink now. (James Suckling)
