The 2021 Chianti Classico is a potent, deep, structured wine that hits so many right notes. Readers will find a structured, expansive wine loaded with personality. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and licorice are all amplified in this super-classic Greve Chianti Classico. This is a standout.

The organic Castello di Verrazzano 2024 Chianti Classico shows lovely bright and energetic fruit, with blueberry and blackcurrant followed by easy spice. There is enough complexity here to elevate the wine above the average Chianti Classico, and it has an extra bounce in its step. The thin, easy mouthfeel does the job nicely with a cheesy pizza, while freshness keeps the wine lively throughout. This 100% Sangiovese matures for 12 months in medium-sized French oak casks, and 120,000 bottles were made. This vintage works for me.

The 2024 Chianti Clássico is such a classic wine from the estate. Aromatic and beautifully layered, the 2024 sizzles with tension and nuance. Dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, mint and spice are all wonderfully lifted. This airy, gracious Chianti Clássico sums up the personality of the year nicely. Proprietor Luigi Cappellini used some parcels that often go into the Riserva and Gran Selezione to bolster this wine, a choice that paid off handsomely.
