Vignobles Gonet-Medeville Champagne Gonet-Medeville Tradition Premier Cru Brut NV 750ml

The recent disgorgement of the NV Brut Premier Cru Tradition is a blend of 70% Chardonnay from Bisseuil, Pinot Noir (from Ambonnay and Bisseuil) and a bit of Pinot Meunier (from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ), mostly based on the 2014 vintage (80%) plus 2013/2012. Fermented in 60% barriques bordelaise and aged on the second lees for 36 months, this cuvée has an intensely aromatic yet pure and mineral bouquet followed by a full-bodied, pure and powerful yet refreshing palate with lots of fruit and structure as well as remarkable freshness. It’s complex and mineral, a bit loud perhaps and with nice grapefruit bitterness. Still very fresh, it needs some time to gain more finesse and elegance. Disgorged in March 2018 with a dosage of six grams per liter. Tasted April 2018.

Well-balanced and refreshing, with a creamy mousse. Lively hints of grated ginger and Meyer lemon zest accent the black cherry and currant fruit, toasted almond and biscuit notes. A streak of salinity is a clean sweep on the finish. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Disgorged October 2024. Drink now. 7,000 cases made, 400 cases imported.
