Coming from galets roulés and red sandstone soils, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Grande Réserve is based on 60% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, and 15% Syrah, aged 18 months in demi-muids, older barrels, and stainless steel. It shows a slightly more modern style with a kiss of classy wood in its red and black fruits, spicy herbs, and Provençal, peppery nuances. Medium-bodied and balanced, it has good mid-palate concentration and ripe tannins. Drink 2025-2035.

There’s an earthy, leafy dimension to this ripe version, with cherry and graphite bolstered by grilled anise and lavender perfume. Tangy acidity and firm tannins guide the finish. Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. Drink now through 2032. 1,870 cases made, 1,017 cases imported.
