A driven, focused, structured and energetic Gigondas red, showing blackberries, dark plums, licorice and baking spices. Full-bodied with sinewy tannins. It’s pulpy and lively, the crunchy purple-berry character lifted by dried herbs and peppercorns. Long, flavorful finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

This offers a mix of dark cherry, currant and blackberry compote flavors, scored liberally with singed alder, dried sage and warm earth accents through the finish. Leading off the 2022s from bottle, the 2022 Gigondas has tons of chalky minerality as well as peppery, spicy garrigue-driven aromatics, medium to full-bodied richness, a layered, balanced mouthfeel, and classic Provençal red and black fruits. I’d be thrilled to drink a bottle today, and it’s going to see its 20th birthday in fine form. (Jeb Dunnuck)

This wine doesn't ask for your attention—it demands it. The nose hits hard with cedar, scorched earth, and brambly black fruit, layered with green olive, dry lavender, and meaty undertones—untamed but grounded. The palate is taut, its aggressive tannins laying down the law early, muting the fruit but promising longevity. It's a brooding beast right now—cellar it through 2029+

Ripe and perfumy, with a polished texture, this red oozes soft black currant and lavender flavors. A bitter mineral flash provides contrast, backed by notes of mesquite, incense and singed garrigue on the lush finish. A spine of iron brings structure and drives the impressive length. Loaded with notes of black olives and black cherries, the full-bodied 2017 Gigondas is rich and velvety in the mouth. I’m not sure it’s quite as good as the 2018, but it’s certainly no slouch, with a long, silky finish that picks up a hint of cocoa.

The 2023 Gigondas from Château de Saint-Cosme is especially promising, bursting with aromas of ripe black raspberries, red plums, garrigue, licorice and incense. Medium- to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, it’s rich without excess, with a layered core of fruit, powdery tannins and a bright, saline finish that lends a sense of energy and poise. As always, it’s a blend of multiple terroirs—limestone, marl and sandy soils—which lend the cuvée both depth and aromatic range. This will offer a great drinking window, but a few years in bottle will only enhance its complexity.

Leading off the Gigondas, the base 2020 Gigondas has lots of black raspberry, ground pepper, and violets notes as well as a round, supple, silky style on the palate. It should be approachable on release, yet it has plenty of mid-palate depth as well as tannins, and I have no doubt it will evolve for 20 years if properly stored.

Based on mostly Grenache that was not destemmed and was brought up in used barrels, the 2023 Gigondas offers charming red and black fruits, roasted garrigue, violets, and spice. It's round, lush, and supple, with solid tannic grip. Drink bottles any time over the coming 10-12 years. Drink 2026-2037.

A blend of 70% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Mourvèdre, the 2017 Gigondas is a sexy, ripe effort in a forward, already approachable style. Notes of black raspberries, graphite, pepper, and garrigue all dominate the bouquet, and it’s going to drink nicely right out of the gate.
