Critical Acclaim
This famous estate has turned out an impressive 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape. Marked by scents of raspberries, black cherries and even some plums, it’s packed with fruit and ready to rumble. A blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 8% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault and 1% each Counoise and Muscardin, it’s full-bodied, concentrated and velvety in feel, with a long, plush finish. (Joe Czerwinski)
A voluptuous red, this solid, full-bodied Châteauneuf features a heady mix of cherry, damson plum and sappy black licorice flavors, while hints of salty black olive, wet soil and grilled herbs add a pleasing savory dimension. Bitter coffee and sweet oak spice notes grace the chewy, round palate, which holds a lot of stuffing, plus a graphite detail. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2030. 1,200 cases made, 400 cases imported. (Kristen Bieler)
The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is composed from a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 8% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsaut with the rest split equally between Muscardin and Counoise. It is delicious, soaring from the glass with fragrant aromas of red cherry marmalade, red and black plum, garrigue and a pinch of menthol. Medium to full-bodied and layered, it’s refined and concentrated, with a juicy core of fruit and good persistence on the savory finish. (Nicolas Greinacher)
