The 2019 Faugéres is one of the most elegant wines I have ever tasted from Silvio Denz’s Saint-Émilion estate. Silky, aromatic and super-expressive, Faugéres is absolutely exquisite. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, dried flowers and cinnamon are some of the many nuances that open in the glass. There is plenty of the textural richness readers have come to expect over the years, but the 2019 is less over the top than some previous vintages. And that’s a good thing. (Antonio Galloni)

I think the finest vintage to date from this estate, the 2020 Château Faugères has some similarities to the 2016, but with a touch more density and depth. Incredible aromatics of cassis, ripe cherries, leather, and graphite, full-bodied richness, a deep, layered mouthfeel, riveting purity of fruit, and beautiful tannins all define this sensational Saint-Emilion. It's a rich, powerful, inward 2020 (which is the vintage) and needs another 3-5 years of bottle age, but this is one well worth seeking out. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Red berries, plums and flowers with hints of orange peel. Full-bodied with rich fruit, light jam, creamy tannins and brightness at the end. Lightly salty. Vivid. 70% merlot, 25% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon. Better in a few years. (James Suckling)

The 2019 Château Faugères is also ripe and upfront, yet it’s slightly cooler in style compared to the sunny, exuberant 2018. Blackberries, black cherries, tobacco, chocolate oak, and lots of minerality define the aromatics, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with a round, layered mouthfeel, beautiful mid-palate density, and a great finish. It has another 10–15 years of prime drinking. I’d be thrilled with a case in the cellar. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Lots of mulled cherries, blueberries, iron, and bouquet garni emerge from the 2020 Château Faugeres, a rich, focused, yet fruit-loaded barrel sample that has a good sense of purity and elegance. I was able to taste two bottles, both showing medium to full-bodied richness, with one having slightly more precision. Both showed great mid-palates, and this is certainly a beautiful wine in the making. Two to four years should do it well and it’s going to have two decades of longevity.

A brilliant looking barrel sample, the 2022 Château Faugères offers up a smorgasbord of red and black fruits interwoven with notes of saddle leather, graphite, tobacco, and chocolate. With full-bodied richness, a lush, layered mouthfeel, moderate acidity, and sweet tannins, this hedonistic bomb is going to drink brilliantly right out of the gate and cruise in cold cellars.

Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Faugères stampedes out of the glass with a herd of powerful black fruit notes: blackberry pie, baked black plums and ripe, juicy black cherries, plus hints of wild mushrooms, damp soil, tar and star anise with a waft of tobacco. The full-bodied palate is chock-full of black fruit preserves, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and earthy. 91-93 points (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

The 2020 Faugeres offers ripe black plum and boysenberry fruit on the nose, which is extravagant and verging on ostentatious, though somehow it maintains focus and delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with red cherries, boysenberry, cola and light allspice notes on the entry. Well balanced with impressive depth toward the fleshy finish, leaving a lick of dark chocolate on the aftertaste. This is a fine Faugeres that should be afforded 4–5 years in bottle. 91-93 points. An engaging red, with expressive notes of raspberry and red currant preserves carrying a sparkle of anise and rose hip that adds a lingering freshness to the sleek finish. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2036. 11,450 cases made.

The 2022 Faugères was tasted twice, the second sample showing much more freshness on the nose with blackberry, wild strawberry and licorice aromas. The oak is nicely incorporated. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, lively with cedar and white pepper. It's fairly Left Bank in style on the structured finish. Good potential.
