Critical Acclaim
Aromas of blackberries, black olive skin, bark and mushrooms follow through to a medium to full body with round, polished tannins and a slightly smoky, meaty and juicy finish to the fruit. Chewy at the end. Chunky. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. Drink after 2027.
From an estate managed by Dany Rolland, this wine is ripe, dense and layered with black fruits. It is rich in feel from firm tannins, which will lend to its longevity. Drink from 2024.
The 2017 Le Bon Pasteur is really gorgeous. Sweet floral and spices give the 2017 tons of allure. Just as inviting on the palate, the 2017 is silky, mid-weight and gracious, with terrific purity of fruit and impeccable balance. This is a wine of restraint, class and total finesse. The persistent, aromatically intense finish is a thing of beauty. Wow—this is one of the best vintages I have tasted here.
Solid, with a winey core of red and black currant and blackberry compote flavors studded with briar, tobacco leaf and humus. Shows a slightly chunky edge on the finish, but has good stuffing and energy for the vintage. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2025 through 2036. 2,000 cases made, 500 cases imported. Emerging from the home estate of renowned consultant Michel Rolland, the 2020 Château Le Bon Pasteur sports a deep, inky purple hue to go with its medium to full-bodied aromas and flavors of ripe black fruit, smoked herbs, tobacco, and scorched earth. With terrific overall balance, fabulous tannins, and a deep, concentrated mid-palate, this beautiful Pomerol might be up with the finest wines I have ever tasted from this address. Tasted twice.
Barrel Sample. This wine is rich with dense tannins and equally dense black fruits. The weight and the concentration of the black plum flavors promise a powerful wine — spice and pepper likely to show alongside the texture.
