The 2018 Lirac Via Secreta includes a healthy 40% Mourvèdre, with the rest of the assemblage evenly divided among Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah. While the nose is subdued, with just hints of cherries and mint, the palate is full-bodied, ripe and expansive, framed by silky tannins. It’s almost creamy, yet vibrant at the same time, with a fresh, zesty finish.

Loads of violet and lilac perfume accent fresh, primary blackberry and plum flavors in this irresistibly fruity blend of Mourvèdre (40%), Cinsault (20%), Grenache (20%) and Syrah (20%). It’s not a deeply complex wine but voluptuous and immediately likable. Fine, feathery tannins and a touch of minerality linger on the finish. Ready now but should hold through 2024. (Anna Lee C.
