The old guard stainless steel Chardonnay of the Willamette Valley has shifted its fruit sources north to Washington state. Its Golden Delicious apple and Bosc pear aromas are joined by a trace of wet modeling clay. The same orchard fruit appears on the palate, along with flavors of lemon basil and pine-like sage. A bright straw/yellow hue, the 2022 Chardonnay Inox Unoaked is spritely and fresh with notes of lime zest, citrus blossoms, green apple, and crushed stones. Long and persistent through the palate, it has a focused nature, medium body, and a zesty lift of saline on the finish. Refreshing and vibrant, it offers a great value and is versatile to either drink on its own or at the table. (Audrey Frick)
