Critical Acclaim

Spirit Journal NV vintage

Opaque deep purple/Concord grape juice color. Upfront smells are of just-ripened berries, clove, and black pepper; another seven minutes of exposure to air release intensely jammy notes that are merely ripe but not for a second syrupy sweet or cloying. Entry is zesty, acidic (meaning, very fresh), moderately sweet but nearly sour and incredibly appetizing; midpalate is medium-long, mildly tart, rich yet agile in texture, and intensely berry-like. Ends up very extended, tart to bittersweet, and as delicious as one could hope for. Textbook perfection.
