Critical Acclaim
Seductive oak spices and a plush mouthfeel come with abundant red and black fruits in this full-bodied, appropriately tannic wine that needs time to reach its full potential. Pine and rosemary accents merge nicely with the blackberries and blueberries. Best from 2028–2038. (Jim Gordon)
There’s a nice streak of warm earth and singed cedar running in lockstep with the core of cassis and gently mulled plum fruit, with savory and mineral accents checking in. Restrained in feel overall, with judicious toast that lets all the elements play out on the finish. Best from 2025 through 2036. 27,210 cases made. (James Molesworth)
A mix of black fruits spun through with stimulating and flavorful spices fill the mouth with juicy and savory flavors. These are carried by a balance of acidity and fine-grained tannins into a mouthwatering and lengthy finish. (Elaine Chukan Brown)
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is fabulous. Rich and sumptuous to the core, the 2021 will be a very easy wine to drink now and over the next decade or so. Succulent dark cherry/plum, spice, rose petal and mocha are all dialed up. Silky tannins wrap it all together in style. (Antonio Galloni)
Fresh and nicely framed aromas of red currants, stone and sweet tobacco. Medium-bodied with open-grained tannins and a creamy finish. Crunchy fruit. A blend of 77% cabernet sauvignon, 12% merlot, 5% malbec, 4% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Very drinkable now, but can improve with age.

A super value in ready-to-drink Napa Cab, Clos du Val's 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is actually a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot. Black cherries dominate the nose, joined by hints of cassis and tobacco leaf, while the medium- to full-bodied palate is firm without being hard or edgy and finishes long and silky.
Based on 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon offers wonderfully pure cassis and darker berries intermixed with tobacco, graphite, and some savory herb nuances. It's medium-bodied and nicely concentrated, with ripe tannins and good overall balance. This smoking value represents impeccably made, satisfying, balanced Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink 2026-2033.
One of the more realistically priced Napa Cabs out there, Clos du Val's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Scents of black and red cherries, hints of violets and vanilla mark the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is silky and fresh, streamlined and classic in style. It's ready to drink now and should continue to drink well for the next decade.
Clos du Val’s 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 5% Malbec and 1% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Hints of thyme and sage accent cassis and cherries on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is on the fresher, leaner side of that spectrum, framed by fine-grained tannins and finishing with a strong note of mocha. It’s a solid, all-around effort at what is a realistic price for Napa Valley.
Ripe red and black fruits, leafy herbs, spice, and a kiss of sandalwood all emerge from the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, a charming, balanced, classic 2022 that's perfect for drinking in its youth and over the coming 5-7 years or so.
Warmed cassis and plum sauce notes are gilded liberally with singed vanilla and cocoa. The plush, fan-friendly finish lets a light tobacco hint peek in. Drink now through 2030. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 33,815 cases made.
