Critical Acclaim
All the Barbera parcels were blended into the classic bottling of Barbera d’Alba in this vintage. The 2024 Barbera D'Alba is expressive with aromas of violets, fresh blackberries, and herbs. Medium-bodied, it has surprising structure for the year, supported by lively acidity and crunchy fruit. A very appealing wine that overdelivers in the vintage. Drink 2026-2032.
Very floral and well defined, with a fresh style and restrained plummy fruit. Smooth and medium-bodied, with floral and blood orange flavors, zesty acidity and a glycerol veneer. Drink now.
The 2023 Barbera d'Alba is another fine entry-level offering from Burlotto. In 2023, Fabio Alessandria did not feel the Aves, his top Barbera, was materially different from this, the straight bottling, so he blended all the fruit together. Consequently, the Barbera has a bit more fruit density and a touch of oak influence (from new casks) that it does not usually have. Succulent red cherry, plum, spice, cedar and rose petal build nicely in the glass. (Antonio Galloni)
The 2022 Barbera d’Alba is deep, layered and expressive in the mid-weight style that runs through all the wines here. Succulent dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice and new leather are nicely pushed forward. The 2022 is aged entirely in cask, with one new cask in the mix that adds just a very subtle touch of new wood character. (Antonio Galloni)
This is intense and packed with cherry, blackberry, iron and earth flavors. Vivid acidity keeps this fresh and long on the extended finish. Drink now through 2032. 750 cases made, 200 cases imported.
