The Craigellachie Distillery Company Craigellachie Single Malt Scotch Whisky Aged 13 Years NV 750ml

Light amber. The initial impression is one of bulk. There are heavy florals — think lilies and stewed white fruit, and just-overripe banana — but this is given a mysterious extra heft by an underpinning of a light meatiness, accompanied by a tiny lift of (good) sulfur. The palate is, unsurprisingly, thick and creamy with huge fruit that fills the mouth. A highly physical, old-style Speyside dram with classic distillery character. A statement whisky that is a must-try.

Jonquil/gold yellow color; sediment-free. Entry offers a supple, round, succulent taste profile that's sweet, cereal-like, and like malted milk ball candy; midpalate underlines the pleasant grainy/malty sweetness that typifies inland single malts. Aftertaste shows a bit more textural layering that sends the flavor into honeyed territory. Could not e anything other than a Speyside single malt.

Toasted marshmallows, baked apple and clove aromatics accent a succulent taste profile that provides a malty, honeyed complexity, touched with a slightly smoky finish. It’s a nice after-dinner Scotch to light the fire pit with or just sit on the porch with a premium cigar and watch the sun set.
