Food Pairings
Critical Acclaim
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin "Mes Cinq Terroirs” comes from the north of the appellation and includes one-third of whole bunches due to the acidity being lower than the Marsannay. It has a beautiful bouquet like last year, pure with raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, superb mineralité and vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with dark berry fruit, Earl Grey and light tertiary scents, very cohesive with a persistent finish. This should age extremely well in bottle.
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Cinq Terroirs, from parcels in the north of the appellation, is matured in one- to three-year-old barrels, Mortet regaling the latter as something that enhances the wines by lessening the wood impact. It has a very well- defined bouquet with raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit, the one-third whole bunch imparting light white-peppery scents. The palate is well balanced with a sharp entry—a more angular Gevrey with plenty of spice on the finish. Superb.
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Cinq Terroirs wafts from the glass with aromas of red plums, cherries, cassis and sweet spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy but youthfully structured palate that's framed by sweet, powdery tannins.
