Critical Acclaim

VN 95 Vinous 2019 vintage

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru has a more savory bouquet than the Les Beaux Monts, the whole bunch less integrated by direct comparison and yet it also delivers more terroir expression and mineralité. Touches of cracked black pepper and sage lend complexity to the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, very harmonious with white pepper and clove, a lovely grainy texture and perhaps more refinement compared to the Echézeaux. The kind of Vosne-Romanée that you want to elope with.

VN 95 Vinous 2022 vintage

The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1 er Cru has a clear and precise bouquet, more low-key and understated than the Les Beaux Monts, the fruit profile leaning more towards the red side of the fruit spectrum. The stem addition is barely recognizable. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins. Sapid and refined, it gently builds in the mouth towards a tensile, focused finish. This beautiful Malconsorts will age beautifully over 20 to 25 years and more.

VN 94 Vinous 2021 vintage

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru has a little more fruit intensity on the nose; it is slightly darker by direct comparison. Fine delineation, quite bold in the context of the vintage. The palate is very intense, fine acidity, very sensual with just a hint of dark chocolate and black truffle shavings on the finish. Wonderful.

RP 94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2023 vintage

The 2023 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts was another wine that underwent a rather late malolactic fermentation, but it was nonetheless showing extremely well, wafting from the glass with notes of cherries and cassis mingled with notions of exotic spices and burning embers. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, it's rich and fleshy, with sweet tannins and a long, expansive finish.

VN 94 Vinous 2023 vintage

The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1 er Cru is another cuvée that suffered some reduction during its élevage. Despite that, the nose still has a little more density and fruit concentration, with a hint of Japanese nori in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweeter entry than the Beaux Monts. Candied orange peel notes commingle with touches of red cherry and strawberry fruit. It's a little spicy and strict on the finish. Excellent.

RP 93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2019 vintage

Wafting from the glass with aromas of blackberries, wild plums, orange rind, exotic spices and peonies, the 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts is medium to full-bodied, velvety and elegantly muscular, with fine concentration and mid-palate amplitude, lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins. This is another fine success chez Dujac this year.

RP 93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2022 vintage

Deep and brooding, the 2022 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts unwinds in the glass with aromas of plums, wild berries, rose petals, smoked duck and hoisin sauce, followed by a full-bodied, layered and muscular palate that’s structured and concentrated, built around lively acids and rich, powdery tannins. In what is overall a charming vintage, this is one cuvée that will certainly demand patience.

RP 92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2021 vintage

Aromas of dark berries, smoked duck, spices and petals preface Dujac’s 2021 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts, a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy wine that’s structured and compact, standing out as one of the most backward, but also among the most promising, cuvées in the cellar.
