Critical Acclaim

VN 95 Vinous 2019 vintage Nov 2023

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is everything this wine should be and can be. Floral, deep and yet also light on its feet, the 2019 is a model of total elegance. Crushed flowers, herbs, menthol, rose petal and sweet pipe tobacco run through a core of red-toned Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. The 2019 is perhaps not quite as explosive as the best wines in this range, but it does possess magnificent finesse and tons of personality. Don't miss it. (Antonio Galloni)

VN 94 Vinous 2021 vintage Sep 2024

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is in its infancy today, but it’s absolutely seductive and sizzling, stacked floor to ceiling with intriguing layers that just need some time to coalesce. Cooling mint, black raspberry, juniper, leather and high-percentage dark chocolate open gradually, unfurling into a soft-textured, caressing, broad wine of sheer class. Oak is very much at the forefront for now, but the juicy freshness and old-school/new-school juxtaposition are really appealing. The 2021 is certainly not short on pure, clear fruit. Give this a couple of years to settle into itself.

VN 94 Vinous 2019 vintage May 2022

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvlgnon is such a sexy wine. Plush, deep and seductive, the 2019 is an opulent beauty the likes of which I don't think I have ever tasted here. A rush of black plum, tobacco, incense, dried herbs and licorice makes a strong first impression. Time in the glass brings out the wine's compelling aromatic nuances. Silky and plush, with tremendous depth, the 2019 is a huge overachiever. I loved it.

JD 93 Jeb Dunnuck 2021 vintage 3/13/2026

Blending 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and small additions of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, the ongoing drought of the 2021 vintage challenged the Cabernet Sauvignon the most, and tannin management proved a challenge. As a result, some of the fermentation and pressing protocols were adjusted for the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, with barrel fermentation over 22 months in both French and American oak, the barrels anywhere from one to six years old. There’s a density to the wine and undeniable concentration, mountain-worthy tannins that are starting to soften, and a savory, wooded character to the currant and cassis, with additional notes of black olive. Drink now through 2031.

RP 93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2021 vintage Jul 21, 2025

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon offers up a textbook Cabernet bouquet of dark fruits, pipe tobacco, dried herbs and conifers. The palate is rich and velvety yet eminently classy, propped up by a sturdy backbone of refined tannins that carries the savory yet approachable finish. This is a beautiful iteration of one of California's greatest Cabernet value propositions.

WE 91 Wine Enthusiast 2019 vintage 12/1/2023

Fresh lines of blackberry in this wine are layered in aromas of pencil shavings and toasted herb, proving vibrant yet serious. A bitter bite of woodspice gives an edge to the dried berry and savory meat flavors. Drink now–2039.

SP 90 Wine Spectator 2019 vintage November 15, 2023

This has a pleasantly chunky feel, with a mix of red and black currant fruit tossed with warm earth, chaparral and iron notes, all framed by light cedar. Shows nice cut and will age nicely in the mid-term. Drink now through 2029. 2,686 cases made.
