From parcels in Marsannay, Roty’s 2018 Bourgogne Rouge offers up aromas of cherries, raspberries, dark chocolate and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, with powdery tannins and a succulent core of fruit, it’s showing well.

The 2018 Bourgogne Rouge comes from a selection of parcels in Marsannay. This just flirts with some overripeness on the nose, where fig and tinned prune tincture the blueberry and cassis fruit. The palate is very concentrated with intense macerated black cherries, cassis and white pepper notes. Powerful and grippy on the finish, which is obviously very Marsannay in style. This will need 2–3 years in bottle. (Neal Martin)
