Critical Acclaim
The 2018 Côte de Nuits-Villages has a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, which is a little savory in style and suggests a touch of melted tar. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, a fine bead of acidity and very good tension toward the chalky-textured finish. Excellent. (Neal Martin)
The 2018 Côte de Nuits-Villages exhibits aromas of cherries, wild plums and cassis mingled with hints of loamy soil and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, bright and lively, it’s serious and tightly wound, with fine depth at the core and chalky structuring tannins. As I’ve written before, this cuvée derives from vines in the lieu-dit of Queue de Hareng in Brochon, neighboring Denis Bachelet’s.
