About This Wine
Tasting Notes
Deep, dark purple-ruby in color. Intensely aromatic with scents of ripe black cherry, blueberry, cassis, cured leather, crushed pepper, licorice, and dried Mediterranean garrigue. Full-bodied, broad, and structured on the palate, presenting concentrated flavors of dark plum, wild blackberry, espresso, and toasted spice. Supported by firm, assertive Mourvèdre tannins and a vibrant line of natural acidity that leads into a long, complex, and savory finish.
Producer Notes
Located in Le Plan du Castellet in the heart of the steep, terraced, coastal Bandol appellation, Domaine Le Galantin was founded by Achille Pascal in 1960 and is managed today by his children, Céline Devictor and Jérôme Pascal. Farming 30 hectares of dry-farmed vines planted on clay-limestone soils overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the estate focuses heavily on the heat-loving Mourvèdre grape. Traditional winemaking—including hand harvesting, partial whole-cluster fermentation, and long aging in large wooden foudres—yields robust, age-worthy red Bandols built on savory depth and marine-influenced elegance.
