Critical Acclaim

VN 95 Vinous 2020 vintage Dec 2022

Saturated ruby. Highly perfumed aromas of ripe dark berries, cherry, olive and pungent flowers are sharpened by a suggestion of black pepper. Supple and appealingly sweet, offering concentrated black raspberry, cherry-cola and violet pastille flavors and a suggestion of star anise. Finishes pliant, sweet and focused on the penetrating finish, showing smooth tannins and excellent tenacity. (Josh Raynolds)

JD 94 Jeb Dunnuck 2020 vintage 12/15/2022

The base Côte Rôtie from Rostaing seems to always deliver, and the 2020 Côte Rôtie Ampodium might be the best yet. Deep purple-hued, with a brilliant nose of black raspberries, spring flowers, camphor, scorched earth, and graphite, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a round, lush mouthfeel, and building tannins. I’ve always thought the 2010 was the greatest vintage for this cuvée, but this is going to give it a run for its money. (Jeb Dunnuck)

SP 93 Wine Spectator 2019 vintage May 31, 2022

Gently steeped cherry and plum notes form the core in this red, while light floral, white pepper and red licorice accents fill in along the edges. A long, subtle sanguine thread stitches up the savory finish. Best from 2023 through 2033. 1,500 cases made. (James Molesworth)

VN 92 Vinous 2022 vintage Mar 2024

I tasted various components that will curate the final blend of the 2022 Côte-Rôtie Ampodium. Red-fruited, juicy and structured, the 2022 shows an inviting character alongside a firm tannic structure. I look forward to tasting it from bottle. 91-94 points. (Nicolas Greinacher)

JD 92 Jeb Dunnuck 2022 vintage 3/8/2024

Tasted from multiple barrels, the 2022 Côte Rôtie Ampodium will easily be an outstanding wine. All of the barrels had saturated purple hues, terrific purity, lots of both red and blue fruits, integrated oak, and ripe, polished tannins. It's going to be a smoking good base cuvée from this talented family. 91-93 points. (Jeb Dunnuck)

VN 92 Vinous 2019 vintage

Primary black/blue fruit, violet, allspice and olive qualities on the highly perfumed nose, where a smoky mineral nuance adds energetic lift. Sweet, deep-pitched blueberry, cherry and fruitcake flavors spread out steadily in the mouth, picking up spiciness and a touch of licorice on the back half. Finishes with sharp clarity and silky tannins that provide closing shape and grip.
