A roughly 50-50 blend of barrel-fermented and aged fruit with stainless steel components, the 2023 Chardonnay includes fruit from vines planted as long ago as 1962. With just 10% new French oak used, its influence is subtle, with hints of crushed stone and pencil shavings accenting white peach and melon fruit. It's medium-bodied at 13% alcohol but silky in feel, with a bright, citrusy finish and ample length. (Joe Czerwinski)
