Critical Acclaim
A sensational Mosel riesling Spatlese that has an incredibly dynamic tension between the mineral and herbal freshness and the juicy stone and berry fruit character. These words can really only hint at the true complexity. Terrific drive in the very long and energetic finish. Drink or hold.
The passion fruit, mangosteen and wild strawberry aromas of this vibrant wine are divine. Extremely dynamic and brilliant on the sleek, barely medium-bodied palate. What beautiful zestiness in the very long, vibrant finish. Drink from release.
The 2023 Riesling Ürziger Würzgarten Spätlese isn't ready to reveal its charms on the nose, but the palate is a beautifully savory, stony, salty monument to fruit and stone, with herbal savor of deadnettle, tansy and yarrow and the juiciest tangerine. It's vivacious, bright, compact and fine, radiating aroma.
The 2023 Ürziger Würzgarten Spätlese is intense and savory yet also still reductive on the nose that is dominated by sulfur, citrus fruits and notes of crushed stones and herbs. Round and savory on the palate, with crystalline and saline acidity, this is a remarkably fine and filigreed Würzgarten with a stimulating saline, savory and finely juicy finish. 8.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in December 2024 (AP 1924).
The 2024 Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese is clear and precise yet still discreet on the somewhat muted yet fresh and promising nose that is most of all savory and flinty. Finely racy on the first attack, this is a savory and zesty, finely grippy and juicy Spätlese with a mouth-filling, grippy, nicely lemon-bitter and energetic finish. This is very promising. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in October 2025.
Distinctive, full and energetic, with zesty floral perfume and an expressive range of pink grapefruit granita, pear and dried herbs. Balance comes from the acidity but also the quinine bitterness, with the subtlest hints of fresh ginger, Campari orange zest and smoke. Drink now through 2040. 500 cases made, 400 cases imported.
