The 2023 Grenache Dune Song is superb, especially for a wine mostly from young-vine fruit. A burst of dark red cherry/plum fruit makes a strong first impression. Hints of spice, leather, tobacco and menthol appear later, adding complexity. There's real density here, but also a good bit of freshness that lends balance.<br/><br/>

Tasted as a final blend to be bottled in July, the 2023 Grenache Dune Song was sourced from the Hi Kite and Rancho Arroyo Grande Vineyards and fermented with 25% whole clusters. The nose shows aromas of blackberry, black cherry and dark spices. The palate is medium-bodied and balanced, with flavors of purple fruits and some herbal tinges on the finish. It concludes with swelling, fine-grained tannins that should be further integrated with time after bottling.
