The 2020 is an incredibly pretty vintage for the Aglianico del Vulture Titolo by Amphora, as a cool-toned, almost-minty freshness gives way to zesty nuances of blackberry, sage and white pepper. This seems to hover across the palate, silky and opulent, yet almost weightless in feel, as a cascade of mineral-tinged black fruit is perfectly lifted by stimulating acidity and hints of sour citrus. It leaves behind a caking of fine tannins that seem to slowly crackle and fade away, as notes of red plum and licorice resonate for over a minute. Hands down, the 2020 is the most engaging and complete vintage of Titolo by Amphora that I have ever tasted. Brava! (Eric Guido)
