Critical Acclaim
Those who enjoy Joe Wagner’s California-style Pinot Noirs will find this quite comfortable. Its tart wild berry fruit comes with a plush streak of vanilla. Some coffee and tobacco highlights follow. There’s plenty of power and flavor, but don’t look for varietal specificity. (Paul Gregutt)
Well-knit and approachable, with delicate raspberry and spice flavors. Drink now through 2022. 19,650 cases made. (Tim Fish)
A toasty and zesty quaff, with jammy raspberry and spice flavors that finish with zip. Best after 2027. 87,505 cases made.
The label speaks of sourcing from “prime vineyards on Oregon’s coast” though no such vineyards exist, the coast being subject to ocean-driven storms and weather. It’s almost jet-black in color, light in flavor, with suggestions of black cherries, new mowed grass, and plenty of tobacco and vanilla.
