Ettore Germano Ettore Germano Barolo Prapò 2019 750ml

The 2019 Barolo Prapò (with fruit from Serralunga d’Alba) is a rich and amply fleshed-out wine with dark fruit aromas, plenty of spice and dried rose, along with grilled rosemary and cola. You also get that reddish, metallic earthy note that appears so frequently in wines from this part of the appellation. The finish is medium-rich and fresh. Some 9,000 bottles were made.

A solidly built red, with pure cherry and strawberry fruit flavors complemented by iron, eucalyptus and oak spices. Turns firm yet remains elegant on the finish, where the fruit yields to spice accents. Best from 2026 through 2043. 500 cases made, 180 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)

Attractive aromas of red berries, blood orange, dried flowers and moist bark. Medium- to full-bodied, dry and chalky with chewy tannins and vivid acidity. Savory, red-fruited finish. Try after 2025. (James Suckling)
