Critical Acclaim

JS 95 James Suckling 2021 vintage

Such an outstanding Priorat that already shows beautifully as it opens up slowly in the glass. Vivid aromas of grilled grapefruit, sweet strawberries, blueberries, minerals, cocoa, white pepper and Mediterranean spices. Textured, expressive and medium- to full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long, pristine finish. Concentrated flavors, but pretty ethereal in the middle. Drink now with decanting or give it two more years in the bottle.

JS 92 James Suckling 2018 vintage Thursday, October 14, 2021

Sweet cherries and berries on the nose with rose petals and lavender. Medium to full body, firm and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Another year or two will soften this. Try after 2021. (James Suckling)

SP 91 Wine Spectator 2021 vintage November 2025

Lightly chewy and layered, with pleasing plumpness to the flavors of ripe black cherry, plum sauce, licorice, mocha, thyme and rosemary. The initial focus is on the fruit, but sanguine iron, leather and tarry mineral notes come to the fore through the finish, where the tannins show a bit more burly structure. Decant. Carignan, Grenache and Syrah. Best from 2027 through 2036. 4,600 cases made, 750 cases imported.

SP 90 Wine Spectator 2018 vintage July 31, 2023

A toasty red, with smoke, mocha, grilled herb and iron notes accenting baked black cherry and plum fruit. Dense and medium- to full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins firming the tightly meshed finish. Carignan, Grenache and Syrah. Drink now through 2028. 5,100 cases made, 250 cases imported.
