Critical Acclaim

SP 95 Wine Spectator 2021 vintage March 11, 2026

Packed with cherry and raspberry fruit, this red also exhibits rose, mineral and Mediterranean scrub aromas and flavors. Coiled tightly, picking up eucalyptus and gripping tannins on the finish. Best from 2030 through 2048

JS 94 James Suckling 2020 vintage

Filigree complexity here with a multilayered profile, including balsamic tones, not so obvious red cherries and dried fruit, licorice, light camphor and fresh violets. Full-bodied, energetic palate with firm, velvety tannins and a chalky finish. Crisp, integrated acidity. Rich and vibrant, despite some warmth. Best after 2026.

RP 93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2021 vintage Jan 29, 2026

Showing notable volume and a velvety, approachable texture, the Fanti 2021 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a dusty mineral note that gives way to dark fruit and blackcurrant. The wine carries a powerful 15.5% alcohol content, lending warmth and weight, yet a soft, contemporary mouthfeel makes it accessible despite firm tannins that will guide its evolution with modest cellar aging. Fruit is sourced from roughly 10 hectares on galestro-rich soils, with aging carried out over 30 months in barrique followed by six months in bottle. Production totals 50,000 bottles.

VN 93 Vinous 2021 vintage Nov 2025

Alluringly dark and perfumed, the 2021 Brunello di Montalcino combines balsamic spices, cedar, mentholated herbs and black cherries. The palate is juicy with soft textures, polished red berry fruits and brisk acidity. Tannins come forward in full force through the finish, yet the mouth waters for more as hints of dark chocolate and licorice fade.

JD 93 Jeb Dunnuck 2021 vintage 2/18/2026

Pouring a youthful medium red color, the 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino is attractive and lifted on the nose with ripe red cherries, minty herbs, pressed roses, and spiced orange peel. Medium-bodied, it has an elegant, refined texture and a beautifully balanced profile, with a bright spine of acidity and refreshing salinity through the finish. It’s a wonderful Brunello that offers immediate pleasure but has plenty of structure to age gracefully. Drink 2026-2040.

SP 93 Wine Spectator 2020 vintage

A burst of fresh cherry, raspberry and plum fruit informs this vibrant, juicy red. Backed by a thick base of tannins, revealing equilibrium between all of the components. Offers a fresh, peppery finish. Best from 2027 through 2043. 4,500 cases made, 2,000 cases imported.

RP 92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2020 vintage

Fanti's 2020 Brunello di Montalcino shows a dark core of black cherry and plum that is framed by lighter tones of brandied fruit and tropical rum. The heat and intensity of the vintage is played forward in terms of the bouquet and also in the glycerin-rich texture of the mouthfeel. The tannins are nearly resolved with fine texture. Hot air in the summer accumulates in the beautiful valley where this estate is located. I recommend a near or medium-term drinking window for this 40,000-bottle release.
