Critical Acclaim

RP 95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2018 vintage Aug 11, 2022

This delicate Nebbiolo opens to wild berry, rose, pressed violet, earth and powered licorice. The 2018 Barolo Cannubi takes a classic approach and underlines the elegant character of this most celebrated MGA site in the village of Barolo. The wine feels light and weightless when it first hits the palate, but don’t be deceived. It offers ample power and length once you take it all in. (Monica Larner)

The 2019 Barolo Cannubi is another super-classic Barolo from Rinaldi. It offers a combination of Cannubi finesse and old-school power that is striking. Crushed flowers, mint, cedar, white pepper, leather and pine lend notable aromatic brilliance. Beneath it all lies a serious core of fruit, acid and tannin. Readers should be in no rush here. (Antonio Galloni)

RP 95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2019 vintage

The 2019 Barolo Cannubi has a lovely spicy, almost exotic quality with tart cherry fruit and nicely balanced campfire ash, tar and licorice root. You get the elegant nuances of Cannubi presented with extra intensity and richness in the 2019 vintage. The finish has sweet fruit, silky tannins and an open-knit approach. The wine is aged in large oak casks for 36 months, and 10,000 bottles were created.

VN 94 Vinous 2018 vintage Oct 2022

The 2018 Barolo Cannubi is bright and effusive, as wines form this site tend do be. Crushed flowers, spice, new leather and macerated cherry are some of the notes that soar from the glass. The Cannubi offers fine depth and tons of site character, both of which were hard to achieve in 2018. (Antonio Galloni)

JS 93 James Suckling 2019 vintage Tuesday, November 7, 2023

Red plums, dark cherries, dried orange peel, rose hips and red spices. Medium- to full-bodied and a little chewy with velvety, slightly powdery tannins. Fresh, red-fruited character with a chalky texture in the finish. Try after 2025. (James Suckling)

RP 93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2017 vintage

The Francesco Rinaldi & Figli 2017 Barolo Cannubi shows a large span of aromas with dark cherry, plum and cassis. There is a little less definition in this hot-vintage expression (compared to the exacting precision of the 2016 vintage that I remember so fondly). However, the wine sports its broad shoulders with grace and poise. Dark fruit aromas are fleshed out by spice, tar and crushed flowers.

VN 93 Vinous 2017 vintage

The 2017 Barolo Cannubi is sensual, polished and a real delight to taste. Soft and effusive, with lovely aromatic presence, the Cannubi will drink well with minimal cellaring. Sweet dried cherry, mint, spice, crushed rose petal and sweet pipe tobacco all grace this super-appealing, mid-weight Barolo from the Rinaldi family. The 2017 is a bit light, but it is super delicious today.
