Rich and round, this red reveals a powerful structure, with lively acidity and dusty tannins shoring up cherry, strawberry, hay, eucalyptus, iron and tobacco flavors. The 2021 Barolo Conca is a deep, heady wine. Dark cherry, spice, leather, mocha and rose petal build nicely, filling out the layers. Expressive and resonant, with terrific depth, the Conca has a lot to offer. It is one of the richer wines in the range, and yet all the elements are very nicely balanced throughout.

Moving to the 2019 Barolo Conca, this riper Barolo offers luxurious notes of candied licorice, cedar, and black cherry. Full-bodied and round, it has ripe and meaty tannins as well as earthier notes of black truffle and forest floor. Though it sees a proportion of new oak, it is integrated and wears it well. The 2019 Barolo Cortea is warm and resonant in the glass, with all of the richness this south-facing side confers. Dark macerated cherry, spice, leather, menthol and mocha infuse the Conca with tons of depth. Although not super-complex, the Conca is outright delicious. (Antonio Galloni)
