About This Wine
Producer Notes
Great depth of color with the lovely herbal berry notes characteristic of good Dolcetto. Red, black and blueberries with a touch of dried summer herbs such as marjoram and thyme follow through to the palate where the solid tannic structure of this variety gives structure and weight to the berry fruit character. Black cherry notes carry through to the finish.
Critical Acclaim
Pop rocks meet purple plums in this electric Dolcetto that refuses to sit still. Violets and damson fruits burst from the glass with teenage energy, while the palate crackles with fresh blackberries and bright acidity. It's the kind of wine that makes you wish all serious things could be this much fun.
A peppery dolcetto with blackberries, violets and a touch of asphalt. The palate reveals rich yet tightly wound dark fruit, with precise tannins and a concise finish. A sensibly made dolcetto. Drink now.
The 2023 Barbera d'Alba is packed with succulent dark red fruit. Plush, silky contours add to its immediacy and overall appeal. Plum, mocha and cedar build into the soft, succulent finish.
A medium magenta/ruby color, the 2024 Dolcetto D'Alba is elegant and lifted with notes of grenadine, fresh flowers, bright spice, and wet stone. Medium-bodied, it moves lightly across the palate with refined tannins and a clean finish. Drink 2026-2032.
The G.D. Vajra 2023 Dolcetto d'Alba shows pretty aromas of blackcurrant, rose and dusty crushed aspirin. Winemaking prizes a delicate approach, and this Dolcetto subsides to an easy and especially streamlined mouthfeel. Fruit comes from estate-owned vineyards, with plants that vary from 25 to 60 years old on marl soils with marine fossils.
Bright, crunchy cherry fruit is at the center of this light-bodied red. Earth and violet notes add detail as this firms up on the finish. Enjoy slightly chilled. Drink now through 2030. 4,000 cases made, 2,200 cases imported.
