Critical Acclaim

JS 93 James Suckling 2021 vintage Thursday, January 4, 2024

Attractive dark-fruited character here offering ripe blackcurrants, dark cherries and dark spices with bark and walnut undertones. Full-bodied, polished and chalky with tight-grained tannins and succulent dark berries underneath. Long and mineral finish. Better from 2025. (James Suckling)

SP 92 Wine Spectator 2021 vintage August 5, 2024

Very solid, with the core nicely packed with cassis, plum puree and cherry reduction notes that are inlaid with licorice snap and violet hints before ending with an element of singed apple wood. Drink now through 2034. 15,450 cases made. (James Molesworth)

RP 91 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2021 vintage Dec 29, 2023

There are 15,000 cases of Honig’s affordably priced 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon. While it may not make you see stars, it’s a solid value play (for Napa Valley), matching mixed cherries with mocha and cedar shadings and some loamy notes. It’s medium to full-bodied, nicely weighted and textured, with a silky finish. (Joe Czerwinski)

JS 91 James Suckling 2022 vintage

Attractive nose of blackberries, kirsch and hints of dried flowers and walnuts. Full and well-structured with ripe yet lightly chewy tannins and deep, succulent fruit underneath. Intense, bitter-spice finish. Try from 2027.
