Critical Acclaim

JS 100 James Suckling 2022 vintage

Black currant, hints of mint, lead pencil and black cherry aromas follow through to a full body with very fine tannins and an endless finish. The texture leaves me breathless and speechless. Incredible length and depth. Hard not to drink now.

JD 99 Jeb Dunnuck 2018 vintage 2/16/2023

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard comes from a site just outside of St. Helena and vines planted in 2002. Offering tons of minerality as well as notions of smoky dark fruits, tobacco, new leather, and truffly earth, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish. As with all the 2018s here, it’s flawlessly balanced and a heavenly, singular Cabernet Sauvignon. (Jeb Dunnuck)

RP 99 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2019 vintage May 4, 2023

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard features beguiling scents of Montreal-style smoked meat backed by waves of black cherries and cassis. It’s full-bodied, rich, plush and expansive on the palate, captivating for its mix of savory and fruity flavors. Offering tons of fun in the glass, this finishes long and tannic but also smoothly silky. It’s a complete wine by any measure. (Joe Czerwinski)

RP 99 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2018 vintage Dec 16, 2021

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard delivers powerful scents of blackberry preserves, chocolate-covered cherries and stewed plums, giving way to red and black currant jelly, beef drippings and wild fungi. Full-bodied, tightly wound and shimmering with tension in the mouth, it has a solid frame of firm, grainy tannins supporting the reticent fruit, finishing savory and with lots of latent energy. All the signs say that this baby is holding back right now and has more to give with considerable cellaring. Tuck it away for at least 5–6 years and then enjoy it over the next 40 years+.

JD 98 Jeb Dunnuck 2021 vintage 1/8/2025

Starting out the lineup, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard offers a sensational array of darker currant-like fruit intermixed with new leather, baking spices, chocolate, and sappy tobacco. These all carry to a deep, full-bodied, layered, powerful 2021 with velvety tannins and a killer finish. I love it even today, but this beauty will have 20-30 years of overall longevity. (Jeb Dunnuck)

RP 97 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2018 vintage May 4, 2023

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard comes from a site on Howell Mountain that’s planted in nine blocks, each of which is planted on two different rootstocks. Each parcel is picked, fermented and barreled separately, yielding at least 18 different lots from a vineyard that’s only 15 acres in size. On the nose, it reveals a hint of mint, followed by deep, earthy loam notes and black fruit, all underscored by vanilla and cigar box. Full-bodied, plush and expansive, this generous, open wine finishes with serious length. (Joe Czerwinski)
