Cantine I Favati I Favati Terzotratto Taurasi 2011 750ml

The 2011 Taurasi Terzotratto keeps you coming back to the glass again and again with its beguiling mix of dusty blackberries and cherries complemented by sweet herbs, white smoke, hints of mocha and a grounding note of flowery undergrowth. This coasts across the palate with tart wild berry fruits, along with saline-minerals and hints of cedar that collect toward the close. Through it all, a coating of grippy tannins mounts, clenching the senses in youthful poise, as notes of salted licorice, balsam herbs and cocoa fade. I Favati did a fantastic job of finding balance from such a warm and difficult vintage. That said, the 2011 needs a little more time to fully flesh out. (Eric Guido)
