About This Wine
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red with purple highlights. Intensely aromatic with red and dark berries, ripe plum, sweet violet, cured tobacco, and subtle cocoa spice. Full-bodied and supple on the palate, presenting lush layers of dark cherry, cassis, and espresso bean supported by fine, velvety tannins, vibrant balancing acidity, and a long, savory finish accented by notes of dried herbs and graphite.
Producer Notes
Located in the hills of San Gusmè in the southern reaches of Chianti Classico, Tenuta di Arceno is a historic estate managed under the vision of micro-terroir winemaking. 'Il Fauno di Arcanum' is the estate's signature Super Tuscan Bordeaux-style blend, named in honor of the stone statue of the Roman god Faunus that guards the estate. Sourced from distinct hillside soil blocks ranging from clay-limestone to rocky sandstone, each varietal is harvested and fermented separately before blending to achieve a seamless harmony of Tuscan soul and classic structure.

Critical Acclaim
Cedary oak with plenty of dark chocolate, tapenade, black beans, roasted pepper and blackberries. Recognizable cabernet characters give this depth and a demureness. Full-bodied on the palate with fine, dusty tannins and a flavorful middle extending to a long, solid finish. Some bitter chocolate at the end. Drinkable now, but better from 2025.
Dusty and cedary nose of dark berries, toasted spices and hints of dried herbs. Dry and a little tight on the palate, with raw, chewy tannins. Medium-bodied. I like the fruit concentration and succulent mid-palate, yet it needs a bit more time to integrate the tannins. Try after 2027.
