Critical Acclaim
A good value year in and year out, offering rich and layered black cherry and dark chocolate flavors on a velvety, moderately tannic texture. Shows a nice deep red-black color with mint, cedar and black currant aromas followed by well-saturated flavors. Drink or hold.
There's nothing especially exciting about this wine, but then there's absolutely nothing wrong with it at all, which is the epitome of a well made wine that will please the masses. And that's exactly the point here. The nose is awash in dark cherry, chocolate and vanilla aromas while the palate balances tannin, cherry and oak flavors into a lingering vanilla finish.
Damp earth aromas lead quickly into sharp yet ripe cherry aromas on the nose of this bottling. Likable flavors of black cherry greet the palate, as wet clay, cocoa, mint and mace flavors add impressive complexity at this price point. (Matt Kettmann)
Currants, sage, roasted plums and cloves on the nose of this rich and spicy red. It’s full-bodied, plush and toasty, with ripe tannins. Drink now.
