Critical Acclaim

JS 94 James Suckling 2021 vintage

Aromas of blackcurrants come through clearly along with hints of lead pencil. It’s medium- to full-bodied with fine velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Caressing texture and not overdone. Lovely now to drink as a young wine but it will be even better in three to five years.

WE 94 Wine Enthusiast 2020 vintage

This bold and fully ripe-tasting wine showers the palate with blackberries, blueberries, mint and cedar, showing satisfying depth, a full body and appropriately firm tannins. Made from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, plus fractions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.

WE 93 Wine Enthusiast 2021 vintage

This mouthfilling and gentle-textured blend based on 76% Merlot floods the palate with late-picked blueberries and cherries that are layered with vanilla and milk chocolate nuances for an almost sweet effect on the palate and finish. The wine is luscious enough to drink soon, and through 2032.

JS 93 James Suckling 2020 vintage

Aromas of blackcurrant, sliced plum, coriander and cardamom. Full-bodied with silky tannins. Nicely concentrated, without being overblown. Sweet spice and black fruit wash over the palate, with some black-tea notes coming through as well. I like the subtlety here. Drink or hold.

SP 92 Wine Spectator 2021 vintage November 15, 2023

Rich and handsomely structured, this blend is generous, with black cherry, toasty spice and licorice flavors as this builds tension toward refined tannins. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2031. 6,077 cases made. (Tim Fish)
