About This Wine

Tasting Notes

hines with a bright ruby-garnet core. Aromatically refined and expressive, delivering notes of sour black cherry, wild strawberries, and forest berries alongside cracked white pepper, violet, and crushed stone minerality. Medium-bodied and textural on the palate, combining a crunchy, stony mineral backbone with supple, fine tannins and bright acidity that carry into a peppery, lingering finish.

Critical Acclaim

JS 93 James Suckling 2022 vintage Wednesday, May 8, 2024

A medium-bodied red with violets and wild herbs brooding underneath the cherry and wild strawberry fruit. It’s fragrant and alive, held together by crunchy and tight tannins. Excellent structure. Tight at the end. From organically grown grapes. Unfiltered. Drink from 2025. (James Suckling)

VN 92 Vinous 2022 vintage Apr 2024

The 2022 Morgon comes from 2.5 hectares of vines from different parcels (these are named on the label). Sunier told me he doesn’t want to make a “masculine” Morgon, so he is not seeking tannins. He uses wild yeasts with no pump-overs. The 2022 has an expressive bouquet with red cherries, crushed strawberries and hints of pressed white flowers. The palate is fleshy and open, slightly chalky in texture and, like the Régnié, there is attractive piquancy on the finish by way of a dash of white pepper. Recommended. (Neal Martin)
