Kumeu River Kumeu Village Chardonnay 2021 750ml

This Chardonnay-renowned producer’s Village wine opens quite reductively, with a heavy sulfuric layer of struck match and nuts. The pristine lemon fruit is tucked just beneath. The palate is gently creamy with mouthwatering acidity and vibrant lemon flavors. The oak sticks out a little. It’s a solid Chard, but this reviewer recommends paying a bit more for Kumeu’s single-vineyard wines. (Christina Pickard)
