La Caravedo La Caravedo Pisco Puro Quebranta NV 750ml

From the makers of Porton, this pisco has an earthy scent that hints at coconut and orange peel. On the palate, coconut dominates the flavor profile, which is rounded out with vanilla, fleeting fruit juiciness at the back of the palate, and a prickle of clove and cinnamon heat on the finish. Try it in a pisco sour.

Translucent, colorless, perfect purity. Smells, sans aeration, immediately and generously of orange blossom, cherry blossom, white raisins, quince, gooseberry jam, and citrus peel; following another few minutes in the glass the flower shop aromas hit their apex, offering cascades of jasmine, rose petal, as well as nimble spices (cinnamon, clove); a tour de force bouquet that's beguiling and fresh. Entry is as fresh as the aroma, but with a much sharper edge of acidity that establishes a bittersweet, astringent core taste; midpalate remains agile and crisp as the flavor profile advances towards the medium long, slightly cutting aftertaste. The bouquet's ambrosial virtues got bushwhacked a bit by the high degree of acidity in the flavor, thereby deflating some of the aroma's sublime gains. That said, I like the overall impression even if my early expectations weren't realized by midpalate and finish.
